46. Frank : You sem a bit preoccupied. Is there something worrying you?

Mark : Not really. The firm’s negotiating companies and I suppose it’s rather on my mind.

Önemli olan uzmanlık ve o şirket buna pek uymuyor.” Frank’in “Bu (bilgi yelpazesi.net) çok doğal. Anlaşma yapıaldığında kendini daha iyi hissedeceksin” demesi gerekir ki Mark son cümlede bu teze karşı çıkıp diğer şirketin kendi firmasına uygun olmadığını ifade edebilsin.

47. Mary : That’s very clever advert for insurance!

Onlar hakkında konuşmuyorlar, sadece bize onları hatırlatıyorlar.”. Mary’nin ara cümlede Jane’e “they” olarak konuştuğu şeyler hakkında açıklama yapması gerekiyor. Dolayısıyla “Sel felaketleri ve kazalar hakkında konuşmayacaklarını söylüyorlar çünkü bize güvende olduğumuz duygusunu vermek istiyırlar.” Şeklindeki (a) şıkkı bu diyaloğu en uygun şekilde tamamlamaktadır.

48. Judy : These signs, “Pay for it in instalments but get it for the money –down price”, make me very angry.

Colin : Why? It’s just sales technigue.

Colin : Yes, I’m sure they do.

a. By the time you’ve paid for something,  it’s already old and you’re tired of it.

b. But good sales technique doesn’t mean being dishonest, or does it?

c. If you pay in instalments, you have to keep gimng back to the shop every month and that’s a nusiance.

d. But it’s dishonest. If you say you’re going to pay in full there and then, they always bring the price down!

e. Face it; it’s trick to get you back into the shop.

Diyalogda Judy bazı reklamların kendisini rahatsız ettiğini söylerken Colin sebebini soruyor ve bunun sadece bir satış tekniği olduğunu söylüyor ve Judy’nin verdiği cevaba istinaden Judy’yi “Eminim, öyledir.” diyerek destekliyor. Colin son cümlesinde “I am sure, they do.” şeklinde bir ifade kullandığı için Judy’nin de paragrafta boş  bırakılan cümlede “they”e refer eden bir cümle kullanması gerekmektedir ki bu da (d) şıkkında mevcuttur.
